There are currently 20 million pets in the United States with families whose income level falls below the poverty line. Their pets are no less loved or cared for but their owners face more barriers to providing food and basic care.
We believe by serving this demographic we help with the following:
- Keeping low income, unhoused and those in crisis united with what may be the only living thing providing them with companionship, protection, unconditional love and purpose.
- Reducing the number of healthy pets surrendered to shelters because of financial burden.
- Reducing shelter overcrowding saving healthy, loved pets from entering the shelter system and possible euthanasia.
OUR MISSION:
AWPAW’s mission is more than just rescue, spay/neuter and enrichment. We handle services that reach further.
Our purpose is to provide free pet food, supplies, veterinary care, and spay and neuter services to the unhoused, underserved and people in crisis who have companion animals. We do so in a judgment-free environment for all that are dedicated to the health and wellness of their pets.
We operate completely on donations and volunteer efforts. Your support provides pets in need with food, essential supplies, and veterinary care so no pet owner faces the choice of whether or not to surrender their loving family member.

BUILD A VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Our aim is to build a robust volunteer program that will be a continuous help in meeting the needs of pets and their owners in our area.
PAW Pantry
We provide pet food to low-income individuals and families, focusing on the unsheltered and crisis situations.
Work in Collaboration With Other Non-Profits
By reaching across traditional boundaries we believe that strength is measured in collaboration. We work hand-in-hand with other nonprofits to strengthen the services for our pets as well as the humans who love them.
